Short CV

Prof. Patricia Melnyk earned her degree in chemical engineering from Chimie ParisTech (1989) and a Ph.D. in organic chemistry from the Institut de Chimie des Substances Naturelles (Paris 6 university, 1993). After 2 post-doctoral positions, she became Project Manager at Cerep Biotech Company (Lille, France) and then Combinatorial Chemistry Group Leader (Rueil-Malmaison, France).

Since 2002, she is Professor of Chemistry at the Faculty of Pharmacy of Lille University and a team leader in several research units (CNRS2525, CNRS8161 and EA4481).The major research interests focus on medicinal and biological chemistry in the area of neurodegenerative diseases and cancer. She was honored with prizes by FRM, PRES Université Lille Nord de France and Pole de Compétitivité “NSL”. So far, she published her work in more than 60 articles in international scientific journals, 140 poster communications and more than 50 oral presentations at national and international meetings. She has her name as co-inventor on more than 12 international patents. She co-founded The AlzProtect Company, a start-up dedicated to the clinical development of drug candidates for Alzheimer and neurodegenerative diseases. She is at the origin of the discovery of AZP2006, a drug candidate in clinical phase I.

She is very involved in Lille University life : member of the Scientific Committees (Lille 2 University and Lille 2 Univ Fondation), the Pharmacy Faculty Committee and the Strategic Committee (Lille University). Since 2015, she is Dean Assessor of the Pharmacy Faculty, in charge of Research. She is also a member of the National University Council and secretary of AECCPCM.
